In an effort to expand and update our books, articles, and Internet site, I want to include your favorite career letters. And you don't even have to be the author, as long as you can help me contact the original writer to get permission to publish their material.

    Your letter can involve:

    1. Any topic on job hunting, such as letters to friends or salary negotiations
    2. Seeking a transfer, promotion or pay raise<
    3. Resolving disputes at work with colleagues, bosses, subordinates, vendors, or customers
    4. Giving or receiving performance appraisals (reviews)
    5. Giving an employee a letter of reference
    6. Establishing a business or consulting practice, finding clients, writing proposals, collecting accounts
    7. Or any other career topic whatsoever.

I particularly like letters that solved a terrible problem: a lack of job leads, or a difficult conflict at work, for example. When in doubt, send the letter. I'd love to see it. If you include a few words about how the item was written and what it accomplished, that would help. Please send your letter to Bill Frank, wsfrank[at]careerlab.com. With many thanks. . .
